A Forum Users discussion of the Photobucket debacle

28 Feb 2018 19:14 - 03 Mar 2018 12:23 #1 by carnaby
This thread started as a demonstration of the mess photbucket had been making of our forum in
"Am I the only one that enjoys going to work in the snow?"
But the photos in that threadhave been recovered now and the topic restored

Bumped this thread as relevant. an excellent example of the Photobucket mess.

The original thread was:
www.airfieldresearchgroup.org.uk/forum/g...rk-in-the-snow#17690

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Quite by co-incidence this has just been sent to me ( 7 minutes ago ) I am only with them until my recently newed contract runs out.

At which point all your photos will disappear off the forum!

They claim that only site to have unlimited photo storage. Just looked at my FLICKR account. You get 1TB storage, I can't see how you get more so I think few people need more.

Airfieldsman please do not use photobucket, it is a forum policy that users do not use that service, our Mods are already aging prematurely due to dephotobucketing the forum to make it useable again.

Thankyou.

This is the message posted on top of every page by Chris, our Admin

Use of Photobucket.

Could everyone please not host their photos on Photobucket.
Our Mods have been doing a massive job in sorting out the photobucket mess please assist them.
With Photobucket ending 3rd party hosting unless you pay a large fee, could all users who wish to post photos please post them on another photo sharing service or to the ARG server using the attachment option.
If you have problems just ask one of the moderator team for help.

As a policy photobucket links are no longer allowed.

I rescued all the missing photos in the other thread but the realised it no longer proves a point!!!! I also didn't notice the change in title - sorry. I think spending a day sorting out very little has made me "Photobucket Happy".

It was odd though as even the dial symbol ones and the Missing ones were all recoverable. Still only took 30 mins to sort.

Thanks for rescuing the photos Peter. There were some good ones amongst them. I originally bumped the other thread having discovered it way down in the' Airfield Discussion' category (posts were 2009). I felt it was apt considering our current weather situation. The fact that all the pics had gone was just a big annoyance.

Rest assured there are many more threads with most pictures missing.:(

Some of those in the other thread that weren't visible could be opened by right hand clicking and "save as". Confusing to say the least!
