This aircraft has become a national icon out here, much in the same way the TSR2 is in the UK ( or at least it has always been for me)

Guys, I have split this topic to save us going off track from the Museums thread!

I for one love the CF-105, lovely looking aircraft and would have love to have seen one, am I right in thinking a full scale model of one has been built somewhere?

Fair enough!

Thought I was imagining things first of all when the posts disappeared.Gives me an excuse now to post some more pictures of The CNAM below

TSR2 & CF105 - two political sacrifices.

The Viscount below I first saw back in the 50s on the production line at Hurn.

TSR2 & CF105 - two political sacrifices.

Its about upsetting the balence of power, either of these aircraft would have done that.

True enough -The two aircraft represented a real threat to the supremacy of a certain aircraft industry......... also both were ahead of their time(for manned aircraft), both were colossally expensive , and both somehow seemed to be able to whip up the emotions of politicians of a certain ilk.

I read somewhere that when testing a TSR left its chase Lightning standing using just one engine on full reheat.

REF, The mock up I think you are thinking about featured in the 1997 CBC television series about the CF105. The Arrow replica is I think currently(or was a few years back) stored in a warehouse at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum adjacent to hanger that houses Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame (very North American in concept). The museum and the hall are adjacent to the tarmac of the airport at Wetaskiwin, Alberta. So I don’t think I will be driving over to have a peek!!!!

I just noticed the Ottawa Mueseum is now called the Canada Aviaiton Museum, tut tut tut must be more careful!
