Airfield Hangar Location

Once again I revert to the vast knowledge of the Forum. I am researching the locations used in the filming of "The Dam Busters" for our website www.reelstreets.com and there are differing views as to where the attached captures were, or maybe, still are. The first has a distinctive stone type buttress with "windows" then the car follows on to a longer view of three adjoining hangars. Do these distinctive building resonate with anyone? Is that the bit representing a Vickers factory?

As a guess, Bracebridge heath seems a likely location. The triple Belfast truss hangar is distinctive enough. Filming was carried out in Lincolnshire for the Dambusters

Thank you for that. Yes, the majority of the filming was done in Lincolnshire. An interesting suggestion, whilst Bracebridge is not mentioned anywhere in support information there is no suggestion in this scene sequence of military occupation so perhaps the non military aspect was still in operation at the time of filming. I have learned much about various hangar constructions, all very interesting. Just one more screen capture in case what the workers are attending to helps detail or confirm the location.

There is a book out about the filming, I think it was done at the time of the 60th anniversay, IIRC these bits were film at Bracebridge heath.

Thank you Canberra. I have "Filming the Dam Busters" by Jonathan Falconer are you referring to another book? Apologies for being ignorant but what is llRC? Are you saying that it is actually Bracebridge Heath? Sorry it is all questions but it would appear that you have a positive answer for me.

I always really appreciate the depth of knowledge and interest that the ARG gives to my occasional questions and the speed with which responses are given.
