Possible Airfield Identification was created by tibull
A picture of a Lancaster/ RR Dart test bed. Could this be at Hucknall ?
Only identification is a small hill in the background.

If thos are hills in the background I doubt it is Hucknall. The Barracuda in the background might be a clue. Possibly a Naval airfield or maybe in Scotland/Islands?

Somewhere between those gantries (the two vertical black shapes.) That said, they long outlived the bedsteads. Does anyone know the year they were pulled down?

I would still say abroad, the landscape in the first shot is very baron and featureless and the hills look to be some distance behind.

according to several docs on the interweb that lanc was definatley Hucknall based, but having never visted that airfield can't comment on if thats the case, although looking close at the 'hill' in the background you can certainly see something like a spoil removal lift as operated on mines.
From one of the RR websites I found "The second Lancaster NG465 was also modified to install a new Turbo/prop engine named Dart in the nose of the aircraft and this first flew on the 10th October 1946. Continued development of the engine ended in 1954 when on 22nd January it was written off in a crash landing on Hollinwell Golf course. Fortunately no one was seriously injured."
