IMO the best aircraft of wwii. Anyone see coast the other day on the telly? Apparently there was a scheme to make a balsa wood subsitute from would you beleive seaweed? In the end the supplies of balsa wood never dried up, but the substitute was produced.

Yes, but it never went into production. There is a specimen 'plank' in the Science Museum, London with a story card. Keele University R and D was involved.

The Germans would have smelt a seaweed constructed 'Mossie' coming judging from the odour of kelp beaches at low tide:)

Pictures from AirVenture at Oshkosh just over a week ago. Refurbished KA114 (which also flew) was parked next to museum-piece RS712. When was the last time anyone saw two Mossies together?

KA114's cannon bay was in good shape, as were the attendants of RS712, who would pose in return for a donation.

And a great sounding aircraft too. Late '50s I revelled in the sound of the daily THRUM flights out of RAF Woodvale.

Well, the word on 'the aviation street' is that VTTS's next project would be getting a Mosquito airbourne in this country...
