Does anyone have a PDF version of the B-24 flight manual? I know the B-24 is not your cup of tea around here (I've been waiting =months= to use that expression!), but I thought maybe one or two of the all-things-aviation hoarders would have one lurking on their hard drives somewhere...
I've found B-17 manuals all over the place, but no B-24!
Always had a soft spot for Stewart, what I had not realised was that He served as Air Force Reserve commander of Dobbins Air Reserve Base in the early 1950s. In 1966, Brigadier General James Stewart flew as a non-duty observer in a B-52 on a bombing mission during the Vietnam War.

A letter has been found ( by a lady cleaning drawers in a nursing home) from a lady "Millie" who lived very close by the crash site and whe helped in assisting some of the survivors.
The photos below are of the letter which was written on the day following the crash.I am struck by the bravery and sheer "unflappability" of this lady who had been faced with an unimaginable situation...and coped with it.It is because of people like her, as much as any others, that we won the war.
Here are the photos of the 4 page letter - hope you can see them OK, not easy to read the photos...if anyone wants copies of the original photos I can provide them - they are larger but not sharper.
I was at the RAF Museum on 13th August with one of my young grandsons and decided to re-enact an earlier photo taken in July 1974 at Abu Dhabi (Al Bateen), when the aircraft was en route to the UK as a gift from the Indian Air Force.
Same person and same aircraft. The aircraft was looking very good, but not too sure about the old man!
