Hawker Siddeley Dominie

Having just seen the last formation of 'Dominie' aircraft flying over the Lincolnshire Countryside today got me thinking as to the future for the air and ground crews of this aircraft type. Same situation for the Harrier crews and no doubt a little later down the line for Tornado personnel. Seems there will a surplus of qualified personnel to aircraft ratio. Flying hours will be at a premium opportunities at entry level to become a pilot almost nonexistent.

Does all this sound like history repeating itself?

I was at Cranwell today and saw the final flypast. It was a very moving experience to see these all British aircraft for the last time in the air. Only one left now in service would be the VC10. I too wonder what will happen to all the aircrew who no longer have their mounts to fly.

Cranfield Thread

Even the Cranwell Thread ! Nice photo's . What really annoys me is that we are losing so many aeroplanes in such a short period of time and perhaps just as importantly less aircraft means less service personnel too . A great shame .
