Catalina G-PBYA flight around the UK
I have not see full details but the aircraft seems to be doing a display around Invergordon on 22nd August then flying down the Great Glen to O ban w here it will stay for a couple of nights.
I presume they are visiting other places either associated with the C ircuit of Britain Race o r the wartime Catalina operations.
August 2013 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Circuit of Britain Race and this is worth a celebration. What better way to do it then retrace the original route in a historic aircraft, the Imperial War Museum Duxford based Catalina G-PBYA.

Sadly we do not see G-PBYA over head as much as in the past but without doubt she is my favourite at Duxford....

Another water bomber variant. This one is at Goose Bay and is in good condition looks like a lot of the cockpit is still equipped.

Decades ago I drove with a small group intending to visit this wreck but our Nissan Patrol conked out about 6 kms short and we spent an anxious overnight before rescue:

In 1960, Thomas Kendall, his family, and a photographer from Life magazine set off on a round the world pleasure trip in this Catalina.
On 22nd March they touched down in the Gulf of Aqaba.
The following day they were attacked with automatic gun fire from a headland nearby by local people who had mistaken them for Israeli commandos.
Mr Kendall and his secretary were injured. After interrogation in Jeddah they were all released.

Some nice short video clips on Twitter of a Catalina landing on Loch Ness with engine trouble yesterday.
The RNLI towed it to the shore.
It was said to be "filming" but they would not say what for.

It will be interesting to see if it is shown on a future BBC2 Saving Lives at Sea series. I presume they have the cameras fitted to the lifeboats all the time?
