I was talking to my retired neighbour yesterday & he told me he was with fighter command, and he told me a story about his squadron leader flying a Tiger Moth right through a hangar, I''ll get some more detail next time I talk to him.

In 'Corsair Pilot' by Norman Hanson he was posted to the middle east (away from books so cannot get details) - he asks the maintenance chief '' why do you not open the hangar doors to let some light/fresh air in for the lads ?'' - the chief answers '' cos you bu66ers keep flying through it '' : )

Also Norman 'Swede' Ralston flew a T6 through one of the Tillamook Airship hangars in 1950 - he inverted the aircraft halfway through and flew out upside down : )

In "Carrier Pilot' by Hanson the hangar was at Dekheila.

Here's the first of two posts featuring some photos I took yesterday at the Moths Club's 'A Gathering Of Moths' fly-in event held at Old Warden. Aside from some beautiful Fox Moths, Leopard Moths etc they're where lots & lots of fantastic Tiger Moths turn up so being as this is the Tiger Moth thread, that's whatchya' gonna get -

Part two coming.....

Part two -

Over 70 aircraft turned up despite a slightly strong cross wind.
With the sad loss of the brilliant Moth Rally at Woburn Abbey it would be great if the Moth Club could make this an annual event. Many thanks to Rich Flagg for the company

I went for a walk yesterday morning in deepest Bedfordshire and was briefly stopped in my tracks by a Dragon Rapide flying over at about 500 ft - that would explain it!
