By the time I flew in one they were very quiet and very comfortable. Unlike the turbo prop on the return flight which hummed annoyingly. It still seems strange to me that the turbo fans of today are much quieter than the turbo props. Then again most of the overflights these days are by C-130s and Antonovs with the occasional A-400.
