British Aerospace Jetstream

Im not sure about "coronet brave". There were a lot of these deployments in the 80s, some went to Leeming, but some did go to Finningley. The Jetstreams moved from Leeming in 79 to Finningley. Ive been to each airfield only once so I can only guess that its Finningley.

Reckon you're probably right, however I was at Finningley for a Nav Instructor Course in Nov '80 and I don't recall any Jetstreams, just JPs and Dominies (flew in a Dominie). Stupidly forgot to log my Jetstream flight from Leeming but it would have been early '79 and they said then the airfield (Leeming) was due to close shortly for 'conversion' to a Tornado ADV airfield so that would fit in with METS moving to Finningley.

The same source (NARA) also has a series of pictures taken at Leeming for Coronet Cactus, which appears to be 1982 and involved the Missouri Air National Guard (not Jetstreams pictured though!)

The following came from a friend who was FAA for many years based mainly at Culdrose.

"The first Jetstream was delivered in late 1978. It was a modified RAF T.1 designated a T.2.It had a black thimble radar on the nose and was in the standard red and white colour scheme but with the RAF fin flash removed ( RN aircraft never have one!). It had Royal Navy painted in black above the fuselage above the windows just like an airline name. It soon gained the code 560 as part of 750 squadron. More followed until there were 12 aircraft and the Sea Princes were withdrawn. Two more aircraft arrived which were ex -civvies ( believe from the Congo!) in 1982. These became ZA110 and 111 whereas the originals were all in the XX475 -489 range randomly allocated. The two newcomers were painted blue and white and as the older aircraft went away for overhaul they returned in the new colours. Two further ex-crabs found their way into the mix so there was always a full complement at Culdrose.
Then in 1986 four former civvies arrived from the USA and became the T.3s.They had a radome under the fuselage like the AEW Gannets and Shacks used to. They looked much smarter but the two Marks were incompatible and they couldn't mix and match.Consequently they were often used as transports and the Captain of Culdrose preferred them over the elderly Devon!
This must have annoyed Yeovilton because they wanted them up there! Eventually they got their way and the T.3s went to Heron flight. One was used as the Admiral's "barge" but it wasn't repainted. The green colour scheme which had been used for the FONAC aircraft over the years died out after the VIP Heron which was ex-Queen's flight and the "Green Parrots" (two Wessex 5s."

3 of those FAA Jetstream T2s were flown into Dunsfold in Jan/Feb 2012 whilst I was working there as a radio operator. 2 were dismantled straight away; not sure about the third.
As far as I was aware, the 'green' colour scheme was only used by the VIP flight at Lee on Solent, but I could be wrong.

Leeming didnt close until 87 for conversion!
