If anyone didn’t didn’t watch it they'd be well advised to catch up with it on IPlayer, difficult to describe how effective the remastered footage was. Quite haunting.

Already premiered in the cinema this is a unique film commissioned by 14-18 NOW, Imperial War Museums in association with the BBC aims to bring to life the realities of the First World War for a whole new generation. Peter Jackson’s highly anticipated First World War archive feature film They Shall Not Grow Old is to receive its broadcast premiere exclusively on BBC Two on Sunday 11 November at 9.30pm, following its World Premiere at the London Film Festival in October. The film forms part of the BBC’s commemorative coverage around the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

I watched it on TV last weekend. I thought I was confusing with another film because they stayed in Black & White for quite some time but bringing up the colour.
I have been surprised with many of the recent programmes on WWI that they have not held back from showing dead bodies, often in quite a bad state. Not that long ago it was just about unknown.

I believe The World At War series was pretty graphic in places, and that was probably watched by relatives of the corpses.

I don't remember anything very graphic. I think most of the film of people killed as they "went over the top" or advancing on enemy lines, were recreated after WWI (seem to remember some came from one of the movies made after WWI) but were shown as if they were actually real.
