There appears to be a Hangar at Addlethorpe ,adjacent to the old Windmill,it has been there many years and has been re-clad.I have checked the dimensions and they both match the approx. sizes of a Bellman(95 X 175 feet) and a T1 type(97 X 175 feet)...The height of the Hangar points to it being a T1/7541/41 with the height of the side wall being 23 feet...I have estimated this from "street view" but this could be incorrect.I wonder if anyone has any ideas about its origin or itype? The O.S. reference is approx.TF551676.
Many thanks.
It is a useful website, isn't it. Very lucky to have one of the area you are looking at, normally they just miss or there is no coverage at all.
I assume the hangar was bought from a surplus sale when an airfield was finally released. Possibly in the late sixties?
The NCAP website does have very limited coverage from the sixties and seventies but so far this has only really been Scotland and a few of the Home Counties. Might be worth a check though.

It is a very useful site and I was very lucky indeed to find coverage.I agree that it was probably bought as surplus-A friend grew up in Addlethorpe and I must ask him about it.I have checked the NCAP to no avail.
The measurements of the building(from a planning application from 2011) are 175 x 95.67 Feet and side wall height of approx 19.5 feet,I have found that the Bellman came in two sidewall heights,8.35M. and 5.9M.(19.4Feet).
The roof trusses on a Bellman are different from the"T" Type,I am now leaning towards it being a Bellman Type...I will pay a visit when the weather improve....You pays your money and..........!
Thanks
You are quite correct but I suspect this building has been heavily modified over the years and all evidence of doors and their fittings having been removed.I hope to visit when the weather improves.
Thanks.
I have just been across to Addlethorpe, the recycling site is now locked up and looks like it is now closed.I noticed that the remains of a hangar type door runner can just be made out through the grill like feature...Could it be a Bellman type ?
Thanks.
