Were they in the middle of Greenock?

I seem to remember some aerial photographs on NCAP with flying boats parked up in the middle of the town but I don't have a subscription at the moment.

Canmore shows two sites.

There are some pictures of Scottish Aviation on SCRAN (you can get full access with your library card).

One in Greenock but not very informative, just a lady on a ladder working on the tail[lane.

Maintenance work was undertaken across the river at Greenock in Scottish Aviation's Caird Shipyard factory.

Daily Record - Saturday 28 July 1945 has a report "Seaplanes from Greenock base fought U-Boats"

The derelict Caird's Shipyard at Dalrymple Street was requisitioned. It had "one of the finest flying boat slipways in the country"

Catalinas were flown from San Diego to Greenock for conversion. They were working 36 hour shifts and 18 and 19 hour working days were the order of the day - that seems ambiguoius?

The factory suffered in the blitz of May 6-7 1941. The buildings were extensively damaged that all work had to be done in the open for 10 days.

Between 1940 and the end of the war, they carried out 292 conversions and 211 repairs and overhauls.

40% of the workforce were women.
