There is a fair bit around but sadly some have airfield sites removed or covered. The latest addition to 1946 stock is Getmapping.com, though coverage is mainly southern England. There are some areas of Scotland covered that is quite good but its best to refer to the coverage map first.
I did post a list of site in the Resources thread that have 1940s, 1960s and 1970s coverage.

I have purchased a few from Cities Revealed (the source of the 1940s stock in Gertmapping, I assume) but the quality wasn't much better than that on view. I must admit to being disappointed. My original colour purchase from Getmapping of the area around my house was also a poor quality. Current Google Earth knock spots off it!

For location type purposes and general layout the quality is fine but for more detailed prints you have to pay a lot more though to get a full airfield in it will cost quite a bit but you do get it instantly.

If you have a particular area to target English Heritage offer a good service and can supply a list of frames that cover the airfield of your choice over any period from 1942ish to present. This is usually via an Excel spreadsheet and you can select the frames you want and they with photocopy them (if held on site) and you can view them prior to purchase. Can't recall the prices but there are not commercial so offer good value. It may be the photo copies are good enough. The ones I had certainly were for confirming something.
The only problem might be shipping to the US. I think they offer digital as well so it may be worth trying if you have something specific. If you do let us know.

If anyone has purchased print and found the quality better than I described please say so as my original foray has put me off.

Karl - Apologies for the long winded answer but I was answering your question and adding more info for a wider audience. Have you looked at the other links in the Research area? Cheshire is particularly good for 1970s.
