Most Complete Airfield

If things work out, I will have a complete airfield, Binbrook, all I want is plans, ordnance survey or the like plans, I've made enquiries on the net and will have a small scale model of Binbrook. I spent many happy years stationed there, it will be something to remember it by.

Bicester has got to be the best preserved in my opinion.

What About Kenley? It looks as though it is still complete. Anyone confirm?

Is there not a RLG somewhere in the UK that consists of a grass field with a windsock positioned in the middle? The field is still there and so is the windsock. My understanding is that it's still occasionally used.

Nice pictures. Maybe not completey complete! But still in good nick considering. More to see than most places, and a significant place of importance. The locality of Kenley and the fact it only gets used for gliding instills worry. Brownfield? Housing? Business? Only a matter of time before it gets West Mallingnised.

Thanks Row Kenley is a nice walk around and we still missed several other areas on the N/W side.

In the south/west the only real complete I think is Kemble www.atlantikwall.co.uk/atlantikwall/awal...le01/html/page01.htm it has all the old RAF infrastructure and the airfield. Just a pity its not got free access to walk around. Then that leaves Dunkeswell where www.atlantikwall.co.uk/atlantikwall/atla...south_of_england.htm you have access and can see all the wartime temporary infrastructure. Netheravon is complete with all bar a T2 now removed www.atlantikwall.co.uk/atlantikwall/atla...south_of_england.htm and has WW1 plus inter war years. Not much of the wartime except a pillbox or two. You can walk/drive the perimeter but there is no access. Upavon again no access. New Zealand Farm www.atlantikwall.co.uk/atlantikwall/atla...south_of_england.htm now becoming derelict and the flying field has returned to rough pasture still has hutting, a blister, all bar three pillboxes and other bits and pieces. But the one that should be kept in my opinion is Culmhead www.atlantikwall.co.uk/atlantikwall/atla...south_of_england.htm where about half of the fighter pens are intact, a few huts, two watch offices, a blister and the feeling of a WW2 fighter base.

Hi , this is my first message on what is an extremely interesting forum. Regarding complete airfields, East Fortune in lothian is in a remarkable state of preservation, with runways, taxiways and most buildings including Callander Hamilton hangars and T2 as well as control tower in very good condition. Also remarkably complete due to its relatively remote location is Kirkbride, which has all runways and taxiways intact as well as all hangars (C, D, E and L types) with the exception of one E/L type.
