Flight Lieutenant K H Tan, DFC, Mustang pilot in No 2 Squadron, RAF, June 1944

Wing Commander Tan Kay Hai, aka K.H.Tan, from Singapore, flew both bombers and fighters, including Spitfires and Mosquito's, for the RAF out of Britain during the Second World War and earned a DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross). He was a member of the "Caterpillar Club" for having successfully bailed out of his aircraft in flight. He latterly flew with No 2 Squadron, RAF, on photo-reconnaissance missions in Mustangs over the D-Day beaches in June 1944. He was shot down and captured as a POW but escaped and successfully returned to Blighty. Has anyone ever spotted any non-white characters or extras in British-made POW films?

Not in a British made one, but Pele was in escape to victory!!! I had heard of this officer before, and there was a Maori who took part in the great escape, he was one of the 50 executed.

The words are not mine the text is taken from under the picture on Flikr. You are right about the Maori pilot I believe he won a good medal as well I believe.
