Stove trays

I have come across these at many sites and not until Mr P Bellamy put me right as to what they are, ive made a point of taking images of them, so here goes

These at Llanbedr, looks like 3 types,





These at Tilstock, although it is the same shape as one of the above it shows the heat damage to the wall behind from the flue pipe, this example from the guard house at Tilstock

I do like a good stove base. I imagine those cold nights on an exposed airfield with the stove giving out its warming glow whilst the groundcrews await their aircrafts return or in some cases not.

Below is a shot of a base within an unidentified building at Worthy Down



Now does anyone know what these are - they are found in most of the remaining pillboxes at Worthy Down. The box below the loophole has baffled me for a while now.

Not all the stoves were of the pot belly type. This lovely example was in the flight offices at Rivenhall......

This one is in what's left of the SSQ at Elsham Wolds. Can anyone direct me to a picture of a stove in situ?

It strikes me now that the second image shows a standard Pentagon(ish) corner type as shown in the first image, only it's got an extra bit of cement clinging to the edge of it making the shape look more irregular?

It looks as though Denis (above) had posted a picture of an extant stove but the image has since disappeared...

Out of interest does anyone know if these bases were mass produced in a factory or if they were cast in-situ to a standard pattern?

That stove, however, is not lit. If it was the base of the chimney would be redhot!
