That is an ongoing problem that I've also found. My solution was to use the co-ords on Google Earth. Possible reason for the many different lat & long co-ords are that some are centred on the control tower, others on the main apron area or the hangars or the crossing point of two runways.
I prefer to use the centre of the "active area" for ANY site whither it's Heathrow or a helipad in a field. At least that way you can be sure that that longitude and latitude reading is definitely related to that particular site.
You should start with Degs-Mins-Secs (60-60-60) ie: 51.30-59N 01.44-23W (not a site by the way) as Degs-Mins on their own are only accurate to around half a mile or more. No good for helipads.
I use a slightly different system on my database www.avsitesireland.com/map/
Degs-Mins-DecimilSecs (60-60-100)
because it's easier to pinpoint a helipad on O/S maps.
Hope that's of some help.
Hugo.

On my page about Southampton Water/Solent I have used lat/long of the slipways(if such existed) for Woolston ,Calshot, Hythe, Lee and Hamble(note two slipways) or the location of terminals in the case of So'ton Docks.
Other than that I have usually used the Lat/ Long as quoted in AIP if avialable - otherwise the approx centre of the site.
Hi, I've had a look at pooleys farm strip guide but cant find anything near Burnham or Weston Super Mare, am I wrong or is there NOTHING useable for a Jodel or RV7
Liznphil: There may well be a number of private airstrips close to your destination but many owners operate their strips under the 28-day rule and do not want visiting aircraft using up their available operating days or the goodwill of the locals. In my neck of the woods, Lincolnshire and East Anglia, there are loads of little airstrips that don't appear in any guide - they operate below the radar and that's how they want it.
