The Elementary Flying Training Schools were controlled by Nos. 50 and 51 Groups. The intention was to add two more groups, 53 / 54 but this never happened.
Initially in Reserve Command, 50 Group moved to Flying Training Command when 51 Group was formed.
50 Group's HQ was at 'Sylvesters', Berkeley Road, Reading (house not traced; there are some very large buildings in this road)
The HQ of 51 Group was HERE
(Moorfield House, Alma Road, Leeds)
As with everything 'training' the structure changed throughout WWII, but snapshots of July 1942 and 1944 show:

He was initially assessed as suitable for Pilot/Observer at 3 ACSB (Aircrew Selection Board) on 30/9/41
was sent home and callled back to 1 ACRC (Aircrew Reception Centre) for 30/3/42
then on to 12 ITW (St Andrews) on 18/4/42 followed by ACDC (Aircrew Despatch Centre) Bridgenorth (?), 11 EFTS and 51 Group Pool(A) on 28/7/42
then via ACDC again to 5 PDC ( Personnel Despatch Centre), Padgate(?)before being shipped out to South Africa in Convoy WS26 for training as a Navigator Bomber
