Of course Scotland (not part of NPAS) just have one base and one helicopter. I think they had to hire one from NPAS after the accident in Glasgow.

But all emergency services in Scotland are getting more and more centralised anyway.

IIRC the RCMP (the mounties) at Goose Bay had 3 choppers and a couple of fixed wing. Mind you they did have to police an area the size of the UK!

Some of you may have heard of the trial of Dale Cregan, he was the person who shot the 2 female coppers in Manchester. He also shot dead two other people and also used grenades on them.

When his trial was on in Preston the convoy carrying him and his co-defendants had a police helicopter following it. And the helicopter stayed hovering over the court until he they were inside. And of course the reverse happened of an evening.I actually saw the convoy heading back to Strangeways one evening, very impressive.

I also saw the Greater Manchester Police Islander circling over Preston a couple of times, I think they were snooping!
