I notice that Stornoways nearest railway station is listed as Stornoway!!!!

Possibly the LMS-operated Railway Air Service from Renfrew to Stornoway.

Just a long shot here, did any of the WW2 USAAF airfields in East Anglia have direct railway access during the conflict?, or as the title here suggests they were only served by the nearest station/goods yard.

Ive just noticed Heath Row(yes thats how theyve spelt it) on the list, but they have Hendon down as the railway station.

I believe that in 1943 it was still called the Great West Aerodrome and that the new name of Heathrow did not apply until 1944.

Hendon may have been the assembly point for any USAAF personal assigned to Heath Row.

I recall being told there was a lot of political involvement which ended up with people being called before Parliament after the end of hostilities to explain their actions during its development and records of the time ( 1943 to 1945 ) not being available assumed lost in transit.

If it had not been expanded in 1944/45 I wonder where London Airport would have ended up being constructed ?
