No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
Aircraft Sound recordings was created by Peter Kirk
I don't recall seeing a Spitfire in flight in the late sixties but I did have "Salute in Sound" (1968?) which had a lot of aircraft sounds and was narrated by Douglas Bader. Sounded good when I later bought a pair of large speakers around 1974. Oddly the real thing wasn't that common then but is a now! Still makes me run outside.

I do believe I have that CD here. As I recall it was a 'freeby' with a Flypast magazine in the 70s.

My brother saw this tape at a classic car show about 15 years ago and bought it for me at £2.00.
The Dead got memorials, The living got time.

Doesn't the BBC sound archive contain a lot aircraft recordings from WW2 including the V1 over London? Also I was led to believe that the sound on the track Nightingales and Bombers (Manfred Manns Earthband) was He-111s.
I'll move the aircraft sound components of this thread soon as it would be interesting on it's own.

I'm sure that it's been mentioned before, but as you enter the upstairs rooms of the Control Tower at East Kirkby the sounds of wartime aircraft start to play. These are original recordings of taxiing Lancaster's during the war. At least that's what I seem to remember being told many years ago.

I haven't subscribed to the magazine for over 12 years so my CD must have come from somewhere else. Had a rummage but can't locate it, yet.

Poor photo, but this is the back cover. It was in Stereo as well! Something I didn't get until 1970.
I only owned four long players by then, Salute in Sound, For Johnny (BBC), and UA Great War Film Themes, and The Battle of Britain music. First Pop LP was Let It Be. Plenty of singles though.

The Cassette in post #3 above seems to have been reissued, and given slightly different names, at least three times
