Teignmouth Golf Club - next door to Haldon Aerodrome/RAF Haldon/HMS Heron II...predates the aerodrome by around 4 years (1924).... in WW2 part of the course was used to extend the aerodrome.
Aerodrome long gone - Golf club lives on.

Isn't it Bangkok that has a golf course between the two main runways?

Only partially adhering to the topic heading but on another thread on Z Batteries I noticed that the Z battery on Shooeters Hill was on a Golf Course or part of it and the one at Dulwich was also on one.
This leads to the question as to what use Golf Course were put during wartime? With public parks and open spaces given over to allotments golf course seemed, jusging by 1946/7 aerial photos, seemed to have fared very well.
Given that they are large tracts of land that were not heavily used, surely they should have been put to better use across the country? Or were they?
