This is my Brass Spitfire that I bought for Two-bob, [10p] when I was 14 years old. I saw the wing-tip sticking out-of a container full of old mixed washers, nuts and bolts at our local Blacksmiths about 1970. How much do you want for this I asked? He said to me+my mate first one to come back with two bob gets it. My mate lived about 200 yards away I was double that at least, but mum gave me the money very quickly and I got back there first.

These brass spitfires were made by our local Blacksmith during 1940 and sold around the village. The one I have is the last one he made which is very coarse you may be able to tell from the [Not-Too Good] photographs. I know of someone who also has one but there's is a buffed-up shiny version. The scale is just under 1/72nd

This second brass Spitfire belongs to my latest girl (Lady) friend who is also very interested in most WWII aircraft, known her all my life, only lives a hundred + yards away (House within view from mine) but only discovered all this October last year. Took these today.

They're great. It's nice to see the contrast in the finish too.

Thanks Iain, As mentioned above, the other local one that I know of I will ask to photograph. I've known the family for years, but just never have got around to taking any photo's of their's.

Bought this non-scale Spitfire from Lavenham last weekend. Though it's not brass and doesn't really look like it's name, but as it's only a pencil sharpener it can be forgiven.
