You are mistaken. Duracell mn1900 works a treat in mine

just had to write in as I have been looking for this model plane to buy on ebay but it never seems to come up
i am not a collector or a aviator but had this spitfire in blackpool as a boy before moving to australia and have wondered what happened to my one
i get the impression they are expensive to buy now but have not seen one for sale
i am writing because even the pictures you have, have taken me back 35 years
beautiful
