My favourite kit was the Swordfish which did require a fair amount of fettling but its certainly the one I've done my best job so far, I started on a vavelin some time ago & its still awaiting fettling.
Did anyone else make the 1:24 scale airfix spitfire and fit it with the electric motor?

Made the Spitfire, Mustang and the Me109, all 3 fitted with the motor !! Unfortunately all long since gone !

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the "Bf" and "Me" prefixes are both correct but depends on who built it or when. No doubt someone would confirn this.

Bit of a can of worms this, Basically it all came to pass after Willy Messerschmitt acquired the company in 1938, it became 'Messerschmitt AG' from the old BFW 'Bayerische Flugzeugwerke' From the 210 onwards the designation was set as Me and not BF.....except for the 109 that continued to be Bf...confused? I am!

Definitely a can of worms Denis, been gone over many times on Key forums.
However the first boxing of the 1:24th Airfix kit was titled 'ME BF 109 E', so I guess they're both right!

Some nice new tooling Airfix releases for 2012 here, www.hyperscale.com/2012/revie...iewbg_2012.htm

I for one am pretty grateful to see brand new tooling releases of the Gnat, Spitfire 22, Swordfish, A-4 Skyhawk in 1:72nd, and the Westland Lynxs' and Merlin in 1:48th, the latter must be quite a fair chunk of a kit.
Vehicles aren't my thing particularly but the Land Rover and Supacat 1:48th releases look like they could be very nice.
The only slight disapointment for me is seeing the 25 year old 48th Harriers reissued, they are basic and 'old tech' and the type really deserves to be covered by new tooling kits.

I don't think we've had it so good

I was always taught that the 110 was the last of the BF aircraft and after that they were ME.

It was all to do with Willy Messerschmitt becoming a favorite of the Nazi party and the merging of the failing BFW aircraft manufacturer to become Messerschmitt AG in July, 1938. any Messerschmitt designs established before then were prefixed Bf., after the merger, Me.

Thanks SimonGee that seems to tie in with all the above comments as both the 109 and 110 were pre 1938.

HK tends to get get products about six months before Britain, so if you want one, just wait. Expect to pay about £150(!) each though. Did I buy one? No. My kit stash is already over 100.
