Hi,

would like to scratch build some 1:72nd scale airfield buildings (WW2 1942-44) but lack plans which show dimensions.
Is there a good resource or book (currently in print) that gives this information?

ATB,

Ted.

I don't know of any 'in print' but get your local library to locate:

British Military Airfield Architecture ISBN 1 85260 462 X by Paul Francis which will give you a lot of the information you need.

Hi Peter,

thanks for the reply.
I get that response from every forum I post on about this subject!
So I finally managed to find a copy at an eye-watering £49.99 although much better than the £125 it seems to fetch on ebay!
You would think a re-print in order as it's a much sought after publication.

Many thanks and ATB,

Ted.

Cheepest I saw it was "£19.99" but as soon as I bidded on it it miraculously shot up to £125!
Oh well, got one now.

The author is a key member of AiX but I doubt that he benefits financially from such re-sales.

If you are looking also at hangars, there is a PDF file extant, previously issued by Defence Estates showing the different hangar types.

I have the DE .pdf file on the 'C' Type Hangar which has lots of info so PM me with your e-mail if you want a copy.

ATB,

How have you got on with your project?? It been a while since your post but i'm just getting back after a house move.
Have you anything actually constructed, have you sourced any drawings yet from the likes of Hendon that are 3 diamensional rather than just line drawings in Pauls book ??
