I've been meaning to do this for a long time but until recently haven't had the time or confidence. Since retiring in April I now have the time if not the confidence! This is my first attempt at a scratch build using plastic card. Started just over 2 weeks ago, this is my progress to date.
WOW, first time? That is fantastic! Just curious, why 1/76th scale? I have been working, off and on, on a WW II airfield fire truck in 1/72nd. Nowhere near as complex as this beauty.
Thanks for the comments. 1/76 scale seems to be standard for military vehicles and I have been using 1/76 plans. However more by accident than design the model is very slightly over scale and is 1/72 scale.
This photo was taken 3 or 4 days ago , I have made a bit more progress since. The cab interior / cab roof / glazing / wheels / monitor / crash bars / ladders will not actually be fixed until I have finished painting.
I had an old BW Models Carmichael Jetranger which had seen better days so I used the wheels from that model. Not exactly the same but about the correct size.
