Hello All,

I have an Airfix 1/48 kit of the English Electric Lightning which I will attempt after a 35 year break in my modelling career! I do not live near a decent model shop and I wanted to ask for recommendations for a one-stop-shop on-line supplier of basic supplies such as liquid cement, humbrol paints, masking tap etc.

Thanks in anticipation.

Ahhh Keil Craft. I Remember was older brother made a Stuka, looked real nice until he began to apply the dope......in front of an open coal fire. He quickly learnt about flash points, instead of throwing the burning wreck into said fire he thought it would be a better plan to carry it outside. Well he got about five feet away from the door and dropped the whole thing on the Lino, luckily he was not burnt, Lino was a tad scorched though.

Well done for taking the plunge; the Airfix Lightning is widely regarded as their best ever kit and the reissue was widely anticipated. Before it reappeared last year old kits were changing hands on ebay for up to £90.

To be honest you shouldn't have to travel too far to find a bit of glue and paint; a lot of toy shops and craft shops carry these items. Old fashioned hardware shops sometimes have a rack of enamels, and UHU glue will do the trick and is available just about everywhere. If you do want to do the whole internet thing for your supplies then you could do worse than to approach:

www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/humbrol-m-59.html

www.modelsforsale.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=8

Just my personal bias, but I'd avoid humbrol acrylics; go for the enamels every time!
