Reading " Fieldwork for archaeologists by Anthony Brown published 1987 ISBN 0-7134-4841-5" i came across on page 49 the statement that Crown Copyright does not apply to O.S. maps 50 years old.
Can any one confirm or contradict this?
If the 50 year rule does apply it means, i presume, that for example i can use extracts from my sheet 145 Ordnance Survey New Popular Edition first published 1946 with" revision full 1930 with corrections" to give a better idea of where any buildings/sites are located as the road network in rural areas is still pretty much the same.(in addition of course to coordinates which i fear when estimated by me are not quite as accurate as they could be.
Crown Copyright applies for 50 years from date of first publication.
For your example that date was 1946 so you can copy (and even reproduce) it without any kind of licence or permission from The Crown or Ordnance Survey Ltd.
