Frances McLaren who has died in 99th year. She was the first woman to serve with RAF Helensburgh/Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment in WW2 joining from school. Regularly flew with pilots conducting trials. Probably escaped death because of change in daily rota. Should have flown in Short Scion experimental aircraft that crashed killing the colleague who took her place. Post war Frances served with MAEE at RAF Felixstowe. R.I.P.
