Peter,

Can you let me know which screen buttons aren’t working.  I have been testing different parts of the forum ( mail, edit, moderate, etc) and they seem to be working ok.

thanks,

jeff

Jeff, thanks for all the work you and your helpers are doing to sort this out. Why would Kunena do something like this to us, surely they should be the ones to sort it out? Or are they holding us to ransom, knowing  we have no choice but to comply. This happened a lot with IT firms in my working life where they knew you had to comply with their demands because they now had control over you.

Perhaps the adjective in the statement at the bottom of the forum page should be changed?  -  Powered by Kunena Forum - to what I wonder?

Everything seems to be working now, thanks. If this new format prevails then it is a matter of getting used to the layout and changes to functions which we had to do with the previous layout when it was introduced.

I use an extended landscape monitor and now have a 70mm blank column on each side of the view although the banner at the top is full-screen width. Thus:

Here's a quirk.

In the previous template you could Paste directly into a reply window.

Now, with this template. if you click to Paste a separate window opens and you have to Paste in THAT window. Then submit, and the auxiliary window closes and your pasted text appears in the subject window,

This must 'Enhance the User experience' for I can see no other reason to add an another step....(frowning face)

EDIT: I added an Emoticon at the end of my last sentence (above) and when submitted the Emoticon was 80mm in diameter! How does one regulate the size?

I suspect there are a few oddities that will surface over time as this was same when we had previous changes to the forum.

One more annoyance is that with the previous template I could login directly from the "Recent Topics" tab, which was my shortcut to this forum. Now the floating login and log off has gone (was a grey button) I have to use the main banner to do this which takes me to a login page which takes me to the main ARGL page after login and only then can I select recent topics, assuming I can be bothered after all that (assume smiley face here).

I recall writing to Microsoft (UK) about changes to Office after Office 97 and the fact that you had to carry out three click where one did it before. They replied with some corporate babble and the famous mention of enhancing the user experience. It seems other software companies adopted the same approach in the subsequent decades and here we are today! Makes you hanker for the days of the C:> prompt.

I should point out that Microsoft only replied to me because I quoted a corporate licence that covered hundreds of users.

On the old template I too had to Log-in for every session even after ticking the 'remember me' box. Now, with the new template I am accepted without Log-in. Good 'ere innit?
