I've had an occasional visitor to the forum ask me today why he has received an email notification telling him that the King's Cliffe thread has been updated despite him never ever posting anything on that thread or subscribing to it or any others. Any idea why he's received this one out of the blue? I couldn't give him an answer as I haven't a clue.
When you reply to a post, the default is that you subscribe to that topic, and so you would receive emails for new posts to that topic
In addition, at the top of each topic page there is a Subscribe button so that you can get the email updates without replying
If the button says Subscribe then you have not subscribed to that topic
If the button says Unsubscribe then you have subscribed
If you no longer want email updates then you can click on Unsubscribe and the email notifications should stop
This Subscribe and UnSubscribe button also appears on all the "higher" levels in the forum, for instance the area for Airshows or Aircraft, in fact anywhere
With the increasing use of touch screen devices, particularly the smaller ones like mobile phones it becomes increaslingly easy to hit one of these buttons inadvertently with the consequence that you would for instance subscribe to multiple topics "below" that point
