DEATH CERTIFICATES

DEATH CERTIFICATES was created by IanDDavidson
I am researching an airman for his family. He was originally from the Bahamas, and was serving in the Royal Canadian Airforce, 622 squadron, based at Mildenhall.

He died on February 12, 1945 in London and his record says " Fell outside Nell Gwynn House, London and died ". That is in Sloane Avenue London SW3

I would like to buy his death certificate to determine the exact cause of death, but it is not registered as a death on the usual GRO site.

www.gov.uk/government/publications/death...ate-application-form

Can anyone help guide me on this please?

Not Death Certificate specifically, but have you tried here for his service record
www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-...47/Pages/search.aspx
Then look for if there is a PDF file available in the results

I am told that additional service records are available if you were to search via Ancestry.ca

I checked the link above, and your man does not have a pdf service record available through it

I cannot tell if the ancestry.ca site does but maybe one of our canadian members is also a member there

Presumably you have the Graves Registration Report Forms from CWGC?

Checking the UK wide indexs of death certificates held by FreeBMD for the period December 1944 to December 1945 failed to find an entry for your man
Were military or commonwealth deaths handled differently ?

I checked the CWGC record but not sure if I know what the Graves Registration Report Forms are. I went to the index and clicked the obvious links.

I checked again and I have been looking at the Registration forms.

Just a few of the original documents came across on my travels

CWGC Grave Registration Docs

CWGC Headstone Register, used by the stonemasons

Worth looking at this to see where his death certificate might be

This is a shot of an entry in the book by the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, "They Shall Not Grow Old". It is not a primary source, and the entry has nothing that the previous posts have detailed.

His service record is on Ancestry including Death Certificate (issued in Canada).. He died when he fell from the sixth floor of a hotel in London.
