Stanton Harcourt Airfield Development was created by ColinWells
It must have been about two years ago that I contacted the ARG about the possibility of getting the developers of the former RAF Stanton Harcourt to agree to putting up something to record the history of the airfield, the significant operations that set out from it, and those that gave their lives for their country on active service.
The development is now nearing completion and, while the developers have been keen to publicise the airfield's history in their sales brochures and visual displays in the former guardroom, i have not heard of any proposal to 'memorialise' the site, as was discussed during my first exchanges with the ARG.
However, since then the new roads have been named after the combat and training aircraft that used the airfield, but have not been able to find out (my fault perhaps) whether there will be a prominent display commemorating the one-time operational airfield

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

We have been working with the developers to do just that with interpretation boards etc. They have accumulated a large amount of information on the buildings, contractors and people who served there. The current health crisis has slowed things down a bit but it will happen.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
