Bisley and Farnborough as mapped in 1902

I picked up a 1902 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map of Aldershot for £1.99 and was suprised to see the detail of the ranges on the map alsot the village of Farnbourough where someone had pencilled in R A F could this be The Farnborough ? THe map is not on the modern Grid and should be well out of Crown Copyright .

Look at the pin's point and look at the crossroads just above it the RAF is in the bottom left quadrant formed by the Crossroad. once you know where it is its easy to spot if you click on the little picture of the map the map comes up clearer and I can make out South Wold Farm on The 1920 Map .following the road along where RAF is pencilled in would appear to be just above where the 1920 map has "Aircraft Establishment ".Thank-you

The letters 'RAF' are pencilled almost exactly where the married quarters assigned to RAF personnel used to be until about 1997, this being known as 'Beverley Crescent' or 'Rafborough'.

Sorry should have added, Beverley Crescent was a road name in Farnborough town and Rafborough was the area where it was situated. There may have been other married quarters nearby but I don't know their names. Married quarters for civilian RAF/RAE employees were situated much closer to the actual factory/establishment at Pinehurst Avenue.
By the way the name of the adjacent farm was 'Southwood' not 'South Wold'; it was later to become Morvel Barracks, Southwood Camp and is now a housing estate.

Another thought; the 'Bisley' ranges.
These have always been civilian hence their depiction on the OS map although the military do use them extensively hence the depiction of these on the map, specifically the north easterly ones between Shaftesbury School (nowadays Bisley Prison) and Cowshot Manor. From north to south, these are 'Long Siberia', 'Short Siberia', 'Century' (there are over 100 firing points) and 'Stickledown'.(Yes I've shot there!!)
There is another group of ranges to the south west of the Bisley Ranges which are marked on your map as being at 'Cow Moor'; these are nowadays known as Deepcut and Pirbright ranges and they are purely military.
