Progress at the new Archive Facility: 5 June 2020

The new archive facility is coming along slowly, due to a number of factors but especially the manpower restrictions due to the lockdown.

However, we've managed to 90% complete refurbishment of the first of the seven main rooms, the Plans and Drawings Vault.
You'll recall that when we took over the building there was no electricity, most internal and external doors were missing, half the ceilings were damaged or missing and it was generally suffering from 20 years of being used as a rubbish tip. So without further ado, here's where we've progressed to so far.



The mannequin and display table will move into the Alconbury Heritage Room as soon as that gets cleared of stuff that belongs elswhere in the building, meaning the work table will be useable properly.
The room still needs a few more ceiling tiles replacing, made more obvious by the fancy new high-output, low-energy, LED lighting panels we fitted, and a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss, but it's a whole lot better than it was...

That effort reflects some damned hard work. Respect.

Room 2 was the one which was completely missing it's ceiling, so has been allocated as the main store room.
I spent Sunday installing a replacement, it's a bit grubby due to the conditions in the building the components were reclaimed from but should clean up once it's all finished.
