We have an impressive collection of 60 welcome booklets (catalogued), with some stations being represented by more than one edition. This is however is far from complete, for example the average station closing in the early 2000s may well have had up to eight editions. Unfortunately too, it is often difficult to date a particular edition because publishing dates are omitted.
If you have any RAF Station Welcome Booklets that you would like to donate please PM me.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
Barry Chambers was given a box of papers etc that may have been of interest to the archive that he passed to me to take to the archive. There are information booklets for the following stations:- Halton, Stafford, Innsworth, Cosford, an official guide to Odiham and a Welcome to RAF Bentwaters /RAF Woodbridge book. Amongst other books is the RAF Station Ranchi Magazine Vol 11 No. 3 of Oct 1945 priced at 8 As, and a number of "The Patrician", the magazine of the Royal Air Force British Columbia from Vol 2 No. 2 dated May 1942 to Vol 2 No. 5 dated August 1942 and the October 1942 issue priced at ten cents. There are other magazines/booklets that I am going through. They will end up in the archive in the not too distant future.
