Serco have given us 30 or so good quality boxes. Did an experiment and one box equates to one shelf so we need another 60 or so similar boxes for all the books on the shelves.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

Start time for tomorrow's (Sunday 14th) working party has now moved to 11am.
Meet at Building 56 as usual. Please be careful on the road alongside Hangar 16, as there is some concrete rubble strewn around, about the size of cricket balls, which it would be advisable to avoid running over. (Ask me how I know...)

Some useful progress was made today.
Another selfload of books was boxed up and the shelving itself dismantled and taken over to the new building.
Mr Francis worked hard to get the broken window in one of the fire exits patched properly, replacing the old slab of timber crudely nailed over the outside:

Well, they are to the few people who have responded to the requests for assistance...
So few volunteers in fact that they are arranged to suit when people can get there, although I try to be there every afternoon for 4-6 hours at least.
Usually a "working party" will consist of Paul and/or myself, plus one other member at most.

Might be worth advertising more widely and more often perhaps. I know we received a couple of offers of help by email. Have these been followed up?
Today was the second Saturday whereby working parties were on hand to help with the move. Last week we had six helping out and a single van, today we had ten and two vans. This was a heavy-lift session and everyone worked really hard to enable 80% of the archives and racking to be removed from B56. Thank you everyone who attended.
