Hello! was created by CrouchyUK
Hi- been a member for a month or two but spent it lurking!

Reading through some fascinating threads on some of my local sites- particularly the ones regarding the Thor missiles and sites. Caistor is just down the road from me and all this time I never realised it's Cold war history!

Such a shame that many images on the Thor topics are now lost due to the Photobucket thing- would it be too cheeky to contact the original posters to see if they still have links to their original images?

Thanks for having me!

Paul Crouch.

Welcome Paul

The photobucket issue is massive.
We are taking steps to try to fix these problems, a work in progress.....

Obviously Caistor is private land and is a duck farm which presents some biohazard restrictions

We have had organised visits there in the past, maybe We will again

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes, double-edged sword the poultry farm prescence at Caistor. Limited access, but it has meant that a lot of the infrastructure of a Thor site seems to be still there. Certainly more than the English Heritage report seemed to suggest.

I will see if any of the previously posted Caistor photos can be saved before I put any of my info up, in case its just repetition. But I was shocked to notice just the other day from the public road, that there seems to still be a section of the original Thor site fencing still in place and on the original line suggested by a previously posted map? Amazing stuff....
