Hello,

I'm Andy, I was a technical photographer at Dunsfold 1978=93 and grew up at the airfield toddling around behind my father who was a foreman there, on weekends at the golf course around the ' field.

Lots of Hunter relics and an Avro Ashton fuselage to discover + wartime relics, for a small boy it was heaven !

It remained heaven while I worked there until the accountants took over, it was like seeing an old friend with a bad illness so I left.

There's a huge amount of research still to be done about Dunsfold, though DAHS - Dunsfold Airfield History - have made a magnificent effort, I hope it's ok to mention their website www.dunsfoldairfield.org - from a personal boasting point of view there are a lot of my pictures and a couple of my articles there.

I am however keen to learn the history of all our wonderful airfield heritage, I was very pleasantly surprised by how interesting Harrington is, and for a start would love to know more about Chilbolton, where a lot of my best Dunsfold - ex Follands chums came from...

Welcome Andy. I agree totally with your accountants comment. I worked in finance departments for most of my working life. I was never an accountant of any description but I did see the rise of the (management) accountants from the early eighties onward. From having only a couple of them "doing the numbers" it rose to dozens in a short space of time. It seemed like an alien invasion at the time.

I did hear that Britain had the largest number of accountants per capita than any other country (not sure when that was) even the USA. Although the USA had the highest number of lawyers per capita. I always thought the accountant were jealous of the lawyers. UK companies with the US connections also suffered from Sarbanes–Oxley - a problem created by accountants and the solution supplied by accounts! Result, even more accountants - hmmm :)
