So yes, not new. It’s been a while since I found my way on here though!
I’ve finally found time to sort out my password reset and log in again, unfortunately due to some enforced time off work.
Around the start of November I went to see my GP about some discomfort I had been having, and following some tests and investigations was told that I almost certainly have cancer.
By the start of December I was having surgery to remove the tumours. I’m still recovering from that although it shouldn’t get in the way of Christmas too much hopefully!
Following pathology investigation and a CT scan, I await news of any further treatment I might need.
I’ve been assured that it’s most likely a very survivable form of cancer, of any of the types that you might be unfortunate enough to have. So I’m trying to look on the bright side. However it’s not something I expected to have to deal with by the age of 38 (although many do suffer much younger of course).
Hope everyone else is keeping relatively well and I look forward to catching up with the new content!
I'm sorry to hear about your medical problem but heartened by the prognosis. My wife went through the same trauma but got through it and now has a clean bill of health. I just hope that, if chemotherapy is required, that you are able to resist some of the long term side effects but it's little price to pay if you can get clear and look forward to a long life.
Pleased to read that your getting back into circulation again ~ always return my Poo Sticks every two years ~ discovered that my GP never gets copied in on the results ~ always take the all clear letter down to the surgery to ask them to enter into their database.
Really nice to hear from you again Al, sorry to hear though, about your health problems. I also hear you have been nominated as the next Airfield Review editor!
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
I've been complaining for a while. 'Where has the wonderful Alex gone?'
Very pleased that you're still around. And hope the cancer gets fixed - two good friends of mine made full recoveries from similar ailments several years ago.
Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite
