Hello, My name is Craig and i live in the small Market Town of Wem in Shropshire. Many years ago i found a photograph on this site of a map of the G-16 stores depot in Wem, which had amazing detail i must add. The depot has now become Wem Industrial Estate. And was for a time an R.A.O.C stores depot too. I am reaching out to anyone who could help me find said map again as the thread seems to have gone, or has simply become lost in the abundant information this site offers. The thread was titled something like " what is this " "what was this " etc . Any help would be massively appreciated, beyond comprehension. Its become somewhat of an obsession if not an addiction.
But the original came from Fold3.com, however a quick search on WW2 General Depots revealed over 1,000 results and adding Wem to the search reduced it to 45 but none of these were the plan/map. It is there but probably not usefully labelled as only the main text pages seem to respond to the auto OCR used to compile the search database.

I am fairly sure that I kept that drawing onto my external 'record' drive but I cannot access it until I complete a house move.
I subscribe to Fold3 and have spent a couple of hours this morning on a tablet and frustratingly slow WiFi looking for the G-16 Depot plan without success. I know it is there but cannot locate it.
If no one else can provide a copy I should be able to do so but not for several weeks.
Ditto, I spent an hour or so today looking for it on Fold3 and as you say it is there. Plenty on G-25 though and three pages of text on G-16 but no plan. I think most of the stuff I saved from Fold3 is the result of an entirely different searches.
About two years ago I deleted all my bookmarks to its predecessor, Footnote. I bet it was there. If only Fold3 downloads had a unique file reference so you can track back.

The reason you cannot find it is because it in the English COunties section of the Forum which is only accessible to paid up members, ie behind what some call our PayWall
I think this is the plan you are refering to
I have reference the attachment above and I can see it in this post, but dont know if Craig will be able to see it?
Thank you all so much. I shall look into full membership if not to costly as none of the links seem to work due im sure to the "paywall". Its great to see such a strong response so again i thank you all. Ill have a go tomorrow evening as i need my 40 winks.
Hello Craig
I also have an interest in the Wem depot as I live about an hour away. My main interest is a similar depot at Trefnant in North Wales which has some info on Fold 3. I found this photo taken at Wem some time ago in an online extract from a US Quartermaster history. You might just be able to match up where it was taken. Trefnant was occupied by Afro-American troops (known as negroes in those days) and I believe they were also at Wem.

Hello, its addictive isnt it ! Thanks for the image. I can match up exactly where it was taken, though another image i have conforms that between construction and the present day the skylights in the units have moved and changed in number. I even have sources that suggest a re-cladding has taken place at some point. Ill get there ! If i ever find anything regarding your plight i shall be in contact. Best of luck with your research.
