I used to be here on here in AIX days. I've returned after a few difficult years.
My main interest / passion is Bomber Command. If it's of interest to anyone I did all the then and now ground photography for the book "Bases of Bomber Command Then And Now", published by After The Battle,
I also made an point of photographing Swinderby in some detail just after it closed. the pictures are on the early Swinderby pages here.
My interest in bomber airfields is the practice bombing aspect and the targets laid out on the expansion period airfields along with the camera obscura and its day and night visual aids.

Hi Tim glad that you have come back . Your book as been a valuable addition to my hobby in photographing as many Bomber Command air fields that I could get access to As like you Bomber Command is my interest .

I agree completely. I trained as an RAF photographer at Cosford. The quality from a 7x5 negative was breathtaking. (Mind you the camera, hood, tripod, neg holders and the enormous box it all came in required at least two aircraftmen to get it anywhere. Fun times!
