Hi!

I'm Karen, I'm looking for information about whether GIs were in Cambridgeshire or surrounding counties from which they could go to Cambridge on or prior to about June 1942. Alternatively, I know there were American volunteers with the RAF prior to the main influx of GIs but were any of these been based in the Cambs area?

I'm hoping someone can answer these questions!

Thanks, Karen

There were obviously lots of American Air Force all over East Anglia and sure they would gone into the bigger towns when off duty. Might be worth looking at the Eight Air Force Museum website.

In the build-up to D-Day, most American Army were on the South coast and South West but sure there must have been others in the rest of England.
