I am Allan Mackintosh and I live in Troon, next to Prestwick Airport in Scotland. I have been researching the history of Prestwick for some time now and I am about to launch a walking tour of a portion of the boundary of Prestwick where I will relate the fascinating story of the history of the airfield. I also have a particular interest in former WW2 airfields as well as any airfield in general although, to be honest, I am not missing my frequent flyer jaunts up and down to Heathrow and Gatwick! I am looking forward to taking an active part in the various discussions and looking into the vast knowledge that is contained within the forums and archives.
Welcome Allan, the history of Prestwick airport is inextricably linked with that of RAF Ayr which was subsumed into the Prestwick Airprt development post WW2.
