Hello from Wethersfield, Essex

I'm doing a bit of research on a now demolished pub in a local village, Cornish Hall End, which isn't far from the Wethersfield airbase. The pub was called The Stag and I believe it was demolished in the late 50s or early 60s. Apparently American GIs from the airbase were accommodated at the pub and would love to hear from anyone who remembers the place or being placed there.

Also, my dad was a very young storeman with 184 Wing at Salbani in India during WW2. He took a number of photos, which my sister has copied, of Lancasters and B184s as well as pictures of the grounds people and crews. I'm not sure if they are of interest to people out there?

My RAF work took me to many Essex airfields (disused) and, occasionally, Wethersfield (beer runs) and local pubs were our preferred lunch venue. But, my diaries of that era are packed in storage so I can't check if the Stag was visited in order to narrow down the date of demolition.

Ask on the RAF Wethersfield Facebook Page there are a number of member from the 20th TFW units from the 1950s

It was certainly still there in 1937, but I have no idea beyond that, I'll see what I can find out, though no longer being local is a PITA. It had certainly been replaced by modern housing by the late 1970s when I remember CHE first.
