Anniversary of the (Official) arrival of United States Forces in the United Kingdom was created by ww2ni
26th January 2017 will be the 75th Anniversary of the (Official) arrival United States Armed Forces in the United Kingdom.
Private Milburn Henke was the first Soldier to set foot in Belfast.
This is the Official date because lots of Personnel had arrived previously and were involved in constructing various Bases including Lockheed Overseas Corporation folks who were already at Langford Lodge.
A total of around 300,000 American Forces eventually arrived in Belfast from where they moved to various locations throughout Northern Ireland for Training prior to the Invasion of Normandy in "Operation Overlord"

The initial US troops were sent to Northern Ireland to release the British troops defending against German invasion
