The story of an aviation memorial...before it is created:
I recently had an interesting conversation with an American from Wisconsin, Gary Elshoff, who specialises in making stained glass windows — but not of religious subjects. He majors in aircraft.
There are numerous examples of his work on flyingcolorsglass.com
He tells me there is, as yet, nothing of his to be found in Europe, although he is planning to change that by exhibiting at one or two of the major air shows over here, offering windows for both private and public buildings.
Below is a picture of Gary’s stand at the recent NBAA Convention at Orlando, Florida.

I haven't seen any stained glass windows during our recent visits to the States but I have seen several etched glass ones particularly at Reading, Pa which has a whole series of different ones - Liberator, B-25, P-51 etc. They're very nicely done with a real eye for detail and are a great addition to the terminal building.
